We are very proud of our outstanding OFSTED report but are always striving to improve all aspects of school life. One area we would like to develop is stronger links between home, the local community and school. We want parents and carers to feel they are genuine partners in their children’s education and for those that wish, to be more involved in the life of our school.
We would therefore like to establish a ‘Friends of Brighouse High School’ which will be run along similar lines to the Parent Teacher Associations / Home School Associations you may be familiar with from Primary Schools. This will further develop links with parents, friends of the school and the local community.
The formation of ‘Friends of Brighouse High School’ will provide a number of benefits to school such as arranging socialising and fund raising events, as well as gaining access to lottery grants and matched funding from large companies. This will enable us to fund extra items or activities to further enrich the children’s education.
‘Friends of Brighouse High School’ will be open to EVERYONE connected with the school – parents, carers, students, staff, grandparents, neighbours, ex-students, and local residents; you are all automatically members. This is your chance to make a difference to Brighouse High School.
The first meeting will be:
Date: 2nd February 2009
Time: 7:00pm
Venue: School Library, Finkil Street
EVERYONE IS WELCOME and your contribution, no matter how small will be greatly appreciated. If anyone would like to be involved but cannot attend the meeting, or you would like any more information, please contact Peter Cummings, Clerk to the Governors, tel. 01484 710408 but preferably e-mail him at p.cummings@brighouse.calderdale.sch.uk.
We look forward to seeing you in the New Year!
