Here, at Brighouse, you will find that there are many clubs and societies that you can join. These change slightly from year to year. You will get details when you join us in September.
Examples of activities organised in the past are:
- band, choir, keyboard club
- hockey teams, rugby, netball
- science club
- textiles/cooking club
There will be opportunities for trips abroad during your time with us. There are regular visits to France and Germany and occasional visits to other countries, such as Sweden.
We also welcome foreign visitors at this school so you may, at some time, take the opportunity to have a visitor from another country to stay with you and your family.
Sister Act – 13th- 15th November
November saw our latest school musical with our performance of Sister Act. The musical was cast back in September at the end of the first week of term and in 8 school weeks twenty six scenes and twenty challenging musical numbers were mastered. We had a great time rehearsing for this wonderful show and the staff were delighted with the efforts of all involved, especially from our highly talented and enthusiastic cast.
Sister Act told us the hilarious story of Deloris Van Cartier, a disco diva whose life takes a surprising turn when she witnesses a murder. Under protective custody she is hidden in the one place she wouldn’t be found – a convent! Disguised as a nun and under the suspicious watch of the Mother Superior, Deloris helps her fellow sisters find their voices as she unexpectedly rediscovers her own.
I would like to thank everyone who was involved in the production, BHS is truly one big team and this was evident in this as it is in all our productions. Under the direction of Mrs Harrison with her additional choreography and with the musical direction in the safe hands of Mr Hornsby, we were assured of a fantastic night. The school production was a culmination of a lot of dedication and hard work and it would not have been possible without the help and support of everyone involved. It can be so easy to take the time and support from other members of staff for granted but we feel so humbled and privileged to be able to work with such a reliable core of people and we would like to personally thank everyone that has made the show happen.
I would also like to thank all the people who were involved with this production, but are usually hidden behind the scenes. To everyone backstage, in the pit, front of house, lighting, sound, prompting, crew, we could not do these shows without you, so many thanks.
We were able to transport the audience back to the world of disco, it’s time to take you back to the 1970s and the fabulous ‘Sister Act’!
