Special Educational Needs

Pupils may experience difficulties during their school career. Problems may be connected with a particular subject or they may be more general.

The school’s special education needs policy is in line with the Government’s code of practice.

Pupils are carefully assessed and closely monitored by all teaching staff. SEN staff help to devise appropriate programmes when necessary and parents are closely involved in any special provision made.

Support assistants work with statemented pupils to help integrate them into the comprehensive school curriculum. We currently have 40 (at 1/9/04) statemented pupils on role. We always welcome visits by parents to discuss their children’s progress or to assist in our work if they so wish.
